ABOUT DAVE
Built by someone who needed it too.
I'm Dave. Personal trainer, training science geek, diagnosed with ADHD in 2025. Future You PT exists because nothing I tried was built for the way my head works.
THE STORY
The signs were everywhere. The diagnosis came late.
I'm 46, I live in Brighton, and I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2025 after a few years of suspecting it.
Looking back, the signs were everywhere. I can't keep on top of basic household jobs, but I'll throw myself into a full renovation. I pick up new skills with complete obsession and drop them the moment the buzz wears off. I usually have five things on the go at once. Executive dysfunction and rejection sensitivity made certain things hard in ways I'm only now starting to understand. Feedback. Failure. Being judged.
The diagnosis didn't fix any of that. What it did was reframe it. Years of starting and stopping weren't a character flaw. They were a mismatch between my brain and every system I'd tried to follow.
The gym became one of the only places I could follow a plan and make steady progress. That's not an accident. Training is measurable, it's logical, and it rewards the hyperfocus I can actually reach when I'm engaged. It gave me something I'd never managed to build anywhere else: a routine that stuck.
So I did the obsessive thing, properly this time. I trained as a personal trainer to understand the science underneath what was working, and I built a method around it for adults like me.
WHY FUTURE YOU EXISTS
Every plan I'd ever followed was written for someone else's brain.
Fitness is full of good programmes. They assume you'll start when you planned to, repeat the same sessions for months without losing interest, and push through a missed week on willpower. For adults with ADHD, none of that is reliable. So the programme fails, and the person blames themselves.
I wanted the opposite. Coaching where the structure carries the load, so your energy goes on training rather than on choices. Where a missed session is a data point, not a verdict. Where the plan changes before you get bored of it, because boredom is a known risk, not a surprise.
And I wanted it to be about more than sets and reps. The research is clear on one thing: the brain treats your future self like a stranger. It's hard to train today for someone who doesn't feel real. So a few weeks into coaching we make them real. A guided conversation builds a vivid, specific picture of your future self, in your own words. Not affirmations, not goal-setting. A person you can see, living the values you've always held.
That's the name. Future You isn't someone you have to build from scratch. They're who you already are, underneath the stop-start years. The work isn't addition. It's return.
WHY ADHD
I coach ADHD adults because I am one.
I use the same app and the same approach as everyone I coach. If it doesn't survive contact with my own brain, it doesn't go in the method.
You want what most people want from a trainer: fat loss, more muscle, more strength, feeling at home in a gym. What's different is a plan built around you, and coaching that gets to know your world and the way your head works.
Sessions are decided for you. Exercises rotate each phase so interest doesn't run out before the results arrive. Accountability is built into the structure, not bolted on. Check-ins are short, because I know what a long form does to a Sunday evening.
I won't pretend online coaching is for everyone. It works for people who want structure they didn't have to build, who can be honest when a week goes wrong, and who are ready to stop treating a bad month as proof of anything.
